Saturday, May 6 – Peconic Family Fun Day: Free Children’s Environmental Carnival. 10AM – NOON. Rain or shine. Now in its 8th year, Peconic Family Fun Day offers visitors the opportunity to learn about and celebrate the ecosystems, estuaries and environments that make the East End so incredibly special. The event is filled with a host of fun and accessible activities designed to encourage water management, agricultural sustainability, recycling, and environmental stewardship. This family fun day presents exhibits, programs, and hands-on activities sponsored by Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE), Peconic Land Trust, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo), Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG), Amber Waves Farm, Group for the East End, Quogue Wildlife Refuge, Southampton Animal Shelter, and other environmental organizations. In addition to the activities at CMEE, SoFo will host two easy-paced nature walks at the South Fork Natural History Museum to see the blossoms, birds, butterflies, turtles, frogs, and myriad plant and animal life that call the field behind the museum home.
