Sunday, July 22 – Interpretive Nature Walk with Jim Ash in Vineyard Field: A Vibrant, Grassland Ecosystem. Adults & Teens. 9AM. Co-Sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo). The grasslands of Vineyard Field represent a significant and vanishing habitat. For the past 11 years, FLPG has made great strides in maintaining, and in some cases restoring the health of this rare ecosystem, which is comprised of ponds, wetlands, wildflowers, and native grasslands, and is home to many rare and endangered native plants, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Join naturalist Jim Ash (FLPG Honorary Director & VP SoFo Board of Directors) as you explore this area, preserved by the Town of Southampton, and learn about its importance to the well-being of our environment. Meet at the SoFo Museum parking lot, 377 Bridgehampton Turnpike 200 yards north of the RR tracks. For more information contact Dai Dayton, 631-745-0689.
