Tuesday, November 29 – Support FLPG in #Giving Tuesday (Annual Appeal). This year, on Tuesday, November 29th, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. Last year, more than 27,000 organizations in 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.
We hope you consider donating to our Giving Tuesday campaign by joining Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt as a new member, renewing your membership, volunteering, and/or donating to one of our special projects. Our aim during this campaign is to reach our goal of 350 members for 2016 (only 13 more members needed!) and kick off our 2017 membership campaign (remember any new memberships this month count for 2016 & 2017).
In addition to memberships, we would like to start rebuilding our Vineyard Field grassland restoration fund and volunteer pool. We have come to the end of our 10 year Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) Grant from the United Stated Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, however, the battle against the invasive autumn olive, Japanese knotweed and mile-a-minute weed is far from over in Vineyard Field. Continual maintenance and additional work sessions are needed to keep these invasives in check. Your support on #GivingTuesday is important to help us continue work in the field and throughout the Long Pond Greenbelt.
We thank you all for your continued support over the years in helping us steward the land that has become so dear to all of us, the Long Pond Greenbelt.
